1. Williams Father Alexander is the earliest proven record. There are a
host of pickenses from Robert Pickens (Picon) in late 1500's.
Connection to this line will come soon!
2. Came to Maryland with parents and two brothers. Later came to Pease
Township, Belmont Co. Ohio, and bought "The home farm" in Scotch Ridge,
and bought 220 acres containing Little Short Creek in 1808. In 1822 he
built the house on The Home Farm. William was a Cabinet Maker and
Millwright who built and operated the first sawmill on Deep Run and
Short Creek. He later moved to Mt. Pleasant with his wife Margaret
Dement where he lived until his death.
The home farm was later owned by Samuel Alexander Clark Pickens
(William's Grandson).
